Domain Names

What is a Domain Name?

Your domain name is the address for your website on the Internet. A domain name can be made up of letters, numbers, and the hyphen (-). The most common domain name types are .com (short for commercial), .net (short for network), .org (used for not-for-profit organizations), and .ca (reserved for businesses in Canada).

Checking if a Domain Name is Available

Contact us to check if a domain name that you want is available, or check with our partner company Domainsatcost.ca

Domain Name Ownership

When we register a domain name for a customer, they are the legal owner of the domain name and can take over the management at any time.

Transferring your Domain Name

If you already have a domain name, we can take over the management and yearly renewal for you - this is included with all of our service plans. Contact us to make the arrangements to transfer your domain name.

Taking over management of your Domain Name If you want to take over the management of your domain name, or are moving to another website provider, no problem, just let us know and we will move your domain name into an account for you at our partner registrar, Domainsatcost.ca and give you the username and password. For .ca domain names, there is also a CIRA account number and password we'll give you.
